In my opinion writing means digging deep. Figuring out things that are solely you.
Who are you?
I’ve heard this asked many times and all I can think of is to say
I don’t know.
And people say that you should know who you are without a doubt.
But I’m someone who makes mistakes.
Who changes over the years
Who is not the same person I once was
So my writing reflects that.
In some ways at least
But it also shows how dependent I was on others for too long.
Strange. But true.
Mistakes. Mistakes. Mistakes.
Over and over again.
But without those mistakes I would not be me.
Just like you would not be you.
So maybe when they ask
Who are you?
Saying
I don’t know fully
is not a bad answer
it’s just not the one they want.
And that’s ok.
Because you don’t have to be what anyone wants you to be. You just have to be you.
