I haven’t been as active as I would like to be here. And I felt as if I was getting locked into a rut where I wasn’t using my voice and I haven’t been feeling heard.
Mainly that I was getting complacent in that.
I create. It is who I am.
And yet the creations were sitting on a shelf. Growing dust bunnies under their feet and never being seen.
I was creating to let the art die alone.
The feeling was heavy. Draining.
So I decided to step out of my comfort zone and attended my very first vendor event.
It was with the East Lubbock Art House (ELAH) and it was a lot of fun. Nerve racking talking about my art and explaining what it is, why it is, and being surrounded by amazing artists who also were just wanting to be seen.
I sold a few books, bookmarks, and postcards, and to my surprise a painting.
This tells me there is a market for what I do. I am a mixed media artist.
I write, photograph, draw, paint, sculpt, and build. I create. And I know that each one of my readers has the ability to do this too.
Thank you for supporting my small blog and finding some joy or familiar sorrow in some of the art I have created. You mean more to me than you know.
With Love,
GV Rioz
