The problem with trusting someone is that eventually they break that trust

you open your heart and soul and they look deep within

and somewhere along the lines they decide you are not worth the work they would need to put in

But it’s not you who are covered in lies and sin

It’s because your heart is pure that they can’t seem to let you in

They don’t want you to see the darkness they hold within

the shame the guilt the insecurities they hide from the world

you have no choice but to show those things because you live with your heart on your sleeve

in their eyes you should remove those things

you should be broken and hollow

shallow like them

but please don’t let them burn out your light from within

you deserve the type of love you can’t receive from them

keep your heart guarded and your love locked away until someone can match it

maybe they will someday.
